When you turn on a light, the TV, your computer, or use any electricity carbon dioxide emissions go up. Canadians call electricity, hydro, but in reality much of the power generated in Canada is not from hydro.
What can you do about it? Use less and offset the rest. You can reduce emissions by using less energy. But it is nearly impossible to be completely carbon neutral. By investing in carbon offsets to reduce emissions elsewhere, you can negate the impact of your own emissions. Clean energy projects that reduce emissions are funded by carbon offsets. |
